LITTLE ROCK (AP) -- Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter's campaign to create a state-run lottery for college scholarships says it raised 110,000 dollars last month.
The "Hope for Arkansas" campaign raised more than 300,000 dollars total and has 83,057 dollars in the bank by the end of February. The campaign spent 56,991 dollars last month, with most of the money going toward a signature gathering firm.
Halter is trying to gather 78,000 voter signatures to place the lottery measure on the November 4th ballot. He's estimated that a lottery could raise 100 dollars million annually if approved by voters.
