SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Former South Dakota Senator George McGovern has led a big rally for Barack Obama in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

McGovern told a crowd of about 6,000 that Obama is a "ripple of hope" who can win the White House. McGovern also said it's time for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to pull the plug on her campaign.

McGovern, who was the Democratic presidential nominee in 1972, was an early Clinton backer. He now says Obama's delegate lead is "insurmountable" and that it's time for Democrats to rally around the Illinois senator.
