DALLAS (AP) -- A lawyer who dispensed Texas justice on television
stamped out his Democratic competition in the U.S. House District
10 primary election.
Larry Joe Doherty defeated international consultant Dan Grant on
Tuesday and now heads to a general election matchup with Republican
Rep. Mike McCaul. McCaul's district stretches from Austin to
Houston, with several rural counties in between.
Doherty is a Houston lawyer who sues other lawyers for
malpractice. He starred in the television show "Texas Justice"
where he delivered rulings in real cases with a Texas drawl.
McCaul is seeking election to a third term.
