LITTLE ROCK (AP) -- Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said in a television interview that a Ralph Nader candidacy would more likely pull votes away from Democrats than Republicans, and he welcomed the longtime consumer advocate to the fray.
Nader announced his bid Sunday for the White House, although many Democrats still blame him for costing Al Gore the 2000 election.
Huckabee joked on CNN that Republicans would welcome Nader's entry into the race and hope that maybe a few more will join in.
The former Arkansas governor added that a third party candidacy is "a suicide mission" and he would not consider one if Arizona Senator John McCain wins the GOP nomination.
