LITTLE ROCK (AP) -- Mike Huckabee returned to the campaign trail Friday, joining presumptive Republican presidential candidate John McCain as he stopped in Little Rock.
McCain says he hopes the former Arkansas governor, always quick to laud Arizona senator during his own campaign, will travel as a surrogate to rally voters.
McCain says Arkansas is a key state as it has correctly picked every president since going to Richard Nixon in 1972. It could be a struggle to take the state, as Democrats hold the state's top elected position -- save one Congressional seat. Arkansas also has an adopted daughter in the race, former first lady Hillary Clinton, who has raised more than $1.4 million in the state alone.
But McCain says Huckabee's popularity remains strong after serving as the state's governor for 10 1/2 years.
