WASHINGTON (AP) -- Republican Steve Scalise has joined the U.S.House, becoming the second congressman to be sworn in from Louisiana in as many days.
Scalise was sworn in today by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Scalise won the 1st Congressional District seat around New Orleans that had been formerly held by Gov. Bobby Jindal.
Louisiana now has four Republicans and three Democrats in its congressional delegation. Democrat Don Cazayoux, who won the 6th District seat in the Baton Rouge area, was sworn in on Tuesday.
Scalise and Cazayoux were elected Saturday. Both face re-election in the fall.
